Last Thursday I wrote about the lack of "black boys" represented in children's literature, specifically for toddlers. I got a wonderful response to this post, and realized I had to share my list. I'd appreciate any more input!
This list involves only African American male characters--I'd like to include Latinos and any other "brown" boy books. There are a few books like Molly Bang's "Ten, Nine, Eight" depicting vaguely androgynous brown skinned characters. Peter Reynold's boy in "Ish" is vaguely brown. What do you think?
